Cabin Vacation

Wink Photography closed down its offices last week so that we could enjoy a summer vacation with our families.

My family went to a cabin in Browerville. What? You never heard of Browerville? Not surprising. Most have not heard of this tiny, Central Minnesota town. But there, on Horseshoe Lake, surrounded by cornfields, my family, along with my husband’s family, spent an entire week relaxing.

We brought my niece, Hailey, with us so that our three-year-old daughter, Grace, had a playmate her size. The five of us (Alex, Grace, Hailey, Madeleine, our five-month-old, and myself) passed each day basking in the sun, swimming in the lake, playing board games, staying up too late and eating nothing by junk food. Now, that’s my kind of vacation.

C & R are a beautiful couple that came by the studio to capture their first pregnancy. Unfortunately, it seemed they came on the hottest day of the summer when even the air conditioning seemed to have a hard time keeping up. But C hung in there and we were able to get some stunning photographs. We look forward to photographing their baby boy in September!

We had the pleasure of meeting Mylana and her parents at their Edina home. We were charmed by this little angel and her natural ease in front of the camera! She was a delight to photograph. We look forward to watching her grow up into a beautiful little lady!

Kid Study

We recently had the opportunity to do some fun shots of Zach, an adorable 5 1/2 year old boy who was a complete ham in front of the camera. He was perfect for a “kid study” - our new, fun approach to child portraits that capture not only a child’s image, but also their personality. Kids love making silly faces and we love shooting them! Besides, the best way to get genuine kid smiles is to have some genuine kid fun. A kid study gives you the best of both worlds, great wall art and a good laugh. I mean, really, could anyone look at this and not smile?

We spent a Sunday morning down on Minnehaha Parkway photographing Michelle, her husband, Jake, and their son, Zach. Oh yeah, and of course, her cute baby bump.

Immediately, we were charmed by their smiles and their hospitality. As we walked up and down the parkway, they took time to wave “hello” and say “How are ya?” to their neighbors. It was very clear that this family is treasured in their neighborhood.

The love and happiness that you see in these photographs are so genuine. We felt so honored to be a part of their family for a couple of hours to help them preserve this special time in their life for years to come.
