Mini-Sessions!

What happened to summer?  Why does time always seem to go so fast?  It seems like Sarah's oldest daughter was just celebrating her 1st birthday, but now here she is already in preschool!  And then we will blink and the snow will be falling. 

But what a glorious season this is.  The leaves are changing, the temps are dropping, the school bus makes its way around the neighborhood, the smell of apples and baked bread hang in the air.  Hello, fall. 

For us at Wink, the arrival of autumn means we are thinking ahead to the holidays and those memorable photo cards we all love to send to our friends and family.

Cole

One of our favorite sessions to shoot is a newborn shoot, especially if we have taken maternity photographs of Mama.  We just love seeing the glow in her face as she looks down at her just budding baby bump.  And we feel so honored when we are invited to photograph her new baby.  We have an awesome job!

We first met Carla and Rob at our studio on a ridiculously hot July evening.  They were two lovebirds giggling with happiness over the new life they were expecting.

Two months later (but a few weeks earlier than expected) Cole arrived.  And what a beauty he is!  (I mean, have you seen his parents??)  Mom and Dad, although sleep-deprived, were beaming with joy.  It is always such a pleasure to be welcomed into a family's home to experience a part of their life, love and happiness.  

Congratulations Carla and Rob and the beautiful life you created!

BFF

I haven’t had much time to spend with friends lately (since having kids that is.....), but when I do I am so grateful for them. A good, uninterrupted conversation with a close friend is something that I will never take for granted again. I was lucky enough to have such a conversation with my good friend and business partner, Sarah, recently. 

Sarah and I met when we worked together at our previous job. We were both initially intimidated by each other, which is funny to think about now... Since then, we have grown ourselves, our families, and our friendship. We share so many of the same values, goals, and expectations....and we have a similar vision for our lives, our families, and our business. I am inspired and motivated by Sarah. She has been a great source of encouragement and confidence for me. 

Sometimes people ask me what Sarah does for Wink (since she’s not the photographer), but there is a lot more to running a photography business than just snapping photos. There is client communication, assisting w/photo shoots, social networking, invoicing, marketing, photo montages, website updating, etc. etc. Besides being a great cheerleader for my work and someone to bounce ideas around with, Sarah has helped me be a better photographer by simply figuring out and dealing with a lot of the other stuff that goes along with running a photo business that, truthfully, would have been too much for me to deal with or figure out on my own. Often, during our business meetings, I will say, “I would love to do ...” on a whim, but Sarah will respond by saying “I’ll look into that”. And you know what? She (almost) always does. And because of that, I have come farther in the last 2 years with my photography than I ever thought I would. What a difference a good friend (and reliable business partner) can make. Thanks for everything Sarah!
