Grace & Madeleine

I know it’s really cliché to say things like “How the time flies!”  or “They grow so fast!” but it is hard to believe that six months has already passed since Madeleine was born.  And really, how they’ve grown!

Every day, I look at Grace and Madeleine and am amazed by their accomplishments, their wonder and their curiosity.  They both have such yearning for discovery and big, caring hearts.

“The days are long, but the years are short.”  How true this is.  My girls make me happy.  They make me cry.  They make me laugh.  They make me mad.  They make me strong.  But, above all, they make me love.

Every night I reflect on the day and hope for all the opportunities that await my daughters in the future.   I am proud to be a mother and am especially proud to be the mother of these two amazing, beautiful, sweet girls.

Thanks you, Gretchen, for being a part of our family and capturing all our memories and milestones.  Your photos are beautiful.

A & W - 18 month

I can’t believe it has only been 3 months since I did an official shoot of Arthur and Wesley. So much has happened.... For anyone that doesn’t know, my husband and I lost our house and both our cars in a tornado in May (soon after A & W’s 15 month shoot). We are extremely fortunate that no one was hurt and we did not lose much in the way of personal belongings. It has been an interesting summer living at my uncle’s house (we’ve completely taken over his space and are eternally grateful to him) and searching for a new home. Ari and Wes have been troopers through the whole ordeal and they have grown an amazing amount in the last few months.  They’ve really starting talking a lot more lately and they love playing outside, swimming, going for bike rides, and “helping” Mom with the sweeping and laundry. I’m happy to report that their 18 month photos were taken in the backyard of our new house (yeah!) and in Dad’s work truck, which they were even more impressed with....go figure!

Open House!

We have been talking for a while about having a fun event for our friends, family and clients.  No pushy sales. No money schemes.  Just us having fun with you.

The spark for this idea came from us talking about our clients and their children.  "Gosh, he has to be almost 2 years now!"  "I would love to see (fill-in-the-blank) again!"  "Remember 'so-and-so'?  I wonder how they are doing..."  Selfishly, we didn't want to wait for your next session to see all of you again!

As it says above, we will have some snacks, play some games and be taking photos.  And, hey, if you don't have kids, stop by anyway to visit.

Here are the details:

When:
Saturday, September 24th, 9am-1pm

Where:
Central Park, Playground & Pavilion
3400 Silver Lake Rd.
St. Anthony Village, MN
(behind the fire station)

Cost?  Free!

Need more reason to come?  We will be giving away a free mini photography session!  Just in time to start thinking about those holiday cards!

We hope to see you at the park!  We'll be there, rain or shine!

Oliver

We were so excited to hear that Michelle and Jake had their new baby and even more excited to have the honor of photographing their bundle of joy, Oliver.  We loved being a part of the family for the day - to experience their happiness, their love and their laughter.  We look forward to watching their family grow!

Baby Ayden

I had the pleasure of meeting Brad and Lindsay (who will evermore be known as “Ayden’s mom and dad”) just a month after they moved to Minneapolis from the East Coast and just a week after the birth of their first son, Ayden. Talk about a busy month! It was great getting to know this beautiful young family and little Ayden was a champ as we moved around the the house and yard for his portraits. Congratulations Brad and Lindsay - he’s perfect!

Family at the Farm

A couple weeks ago, my family and my sister’s family had a week long vacation (if you can call it that with 5 kids in tow....) at my uncle’s farm near Rushford, MN. It was a great week of slip ‘n slides, 4-wheelers, movies, magazines, food, and family.
My sister, Mandy, and I have always been close. We look nothing alike, but still somehow get mistaken for each other....by our own mother (love you mom!). We joke that it doesn’t matter who you’re talking to because we’re  “the same person anyway”.  When I graduated high school, she and I took a trek to Australia with work visas and, as the fairy tale goes, she met an Aussie guy who stole her heart. They ended up getting married and having the 3 most beautiful children I had ever seen (until my own came along of course :), all in the land of Oz.
Last summer, they traded the beaches for corn fields when they moved back to Minnesota. It was a HUGE move and continues to be a big adjustment for the whole family, but I am incredibly grateful to have them back. Especially now that I have my own children, it is such a blessing to have my sister (a seasoned mommy and a constant source of entertainment) and her family around. My niece, Lucy (9) and nephews, Rocco (5) and Leo (2) are so smart and fun to be with and I am proud to be their aunt.  I couldn’t wait to do portraits of my favorite little kiddos on the last day of our time together at the farm.
