The Meyers

It was a chilly September morning when we went to the Meyers home.  We hadn't seen Olivia since we photographed her over the holidays last year.  We were delighted to see how much she had grown!  We also had the pleasure of meeting her big brother, Isaac.  What a bunch of cuties!

We braced against the cool temperatures and the brisk breeze to capture a few precious moments of the Meyer family playing in their backyard.  Luckily, Mom had found some really cute, warm hats for the kids!

Molly, Jason, Madeline, and Reilly

One of the best parts of our job is playing. We love letting the kids in our hearts out to frolic amongst the fallen leaves to skip down a path or hop across rocks and boulders.  And we especially love to do these things when we can share the experience with the children we photograph.

We were invited to spend the morning with the Woods family doing just those things.  We looked for fairy houses, discovered a beautiful garden, fed some koi, and climbed and jumped off rock walls. Giggling and laughing all the way.

It was such a pleasure being a part of this beautiful family for a couple of hours!

Janele, Paul, Madison, and Summer

I love my job, so I might say this about every shoot, but this session was really great. The weather was perfect, the light was gorgeous, and I had a wonderful family to photograph. What more could a girl ask for? :) I met Janele, Madison, and Summer through ECFE last spring. I have really enjoyed getting to know them and was overjoyed to photograph them. Thanks for spending a lovely evening with us. We hope to see you again soon!

Month #3

Another month has gone by and my little girl is 3 months old. What a blessing she has been. I often say that, if I were able to "order a baby", this would be the baby I would order. She has just been such an easy-going, delightful baby so far. And she has the most squeezable, delicious cheeks and thighs - ah, love that baby chunk! New this month: she is starting to giggle, is almost able to roll from back to front, and has started "walking" when you hold her in a standing position. Keep up the good work baby girl!

Lily Joy

Ah... Lily Joy. What a sweet name for a sweet baby girl. I had the pleasure of photographing Lily and her parents in the studio when she was only 11 days old.  Although she fought sleep to keep an eye on what was going on around her (probably just to make sure we were getting her best side :), she allowed us to capture the little beauty that she is. Congratulations Shana and Travis on your beautiful baby girl!

Cruisin' Lake Minnetonka

One of the greatest things about our job is that we are always given opportunities to challenge ourselves.  We love getting inquiries about photographing something out of the norm, so when Jacque called us up one day asking us to take a cruise on Lake Minnetonka, we were thrilled.

Jacque's youngest son, Erik, and his fiance, Jill, were getting married.  They had been high school sweethearts since the start of high school.  Surrounded by their closest friends and family, they took to the open waters of Lake Minnetonka for the groom's dinner.

It was a gorgeous evening to be out on the lake.  The guests were dressed up and ready for a party.  And let me tell ya, Jacque knows how to throw one heck of a party!  (This was actually the second of her children to get married this summer!)

Congratulations Erik and Jill!

Grits Pie

We met Jess while working at TeaSource.  She was a hard worker with a sharp wit so we hit it off right away.  It was evident from the moment we met her that she had a great love for food and beverages of all kinds.  Through the years we have helped her with her food projects (creating her own cookbook) and in turn, she has helped us with our own projects (creating an alcoholic drink menu using tea).

Her latest project has been ambitious, to say the least.  In one tiny room in her home, she houses over 100 cookbooks.  119 to be exact.  (She told us she had some more, but they were probably packed away in a box somewhere.)  Her task: cook one recipe from each book, chosen at random by her friends, family and colleagues.  She devised some sort of wonky algorithm, using empirical calculus to create the algebraic equation for determining which recipe from which cookbook she would cook.  (Okay, maybe it wasn't so complicated... here's the real explanation.)

Jess wanted to wrap up her project (which took just over a year to complete) by choosing the recipe herself (from the last remaining cookbook) and inviting the two of us over to photograph, eat and socialize.  Did we mention that we LOVE our job??

Not only did she serve up some Grits Pie (from Paula Deen's cookbook The Lady & Sons, Just Desserts), she also whipped up some scrumptious appetizers. Thanks Jess for your friendship and your amazing food!

Want to see more of the 119 cookbooks project?  Visit her website to see all 119 recipes, as well as recipes using fresh produce from her urban, backyard garden.

Baby Trisha

We met little Trisha when she was 15 days old. We photographed her in her bedroom, which was painstakingly decorated with an adorable handmade jungle scene. Wow! Although her parents vowed that Trisha is a good sleeper so far, she was wide awake for most of her session, which allowed us to see her gorgeous dark brown eyes. Congratulations to Tanuja and Ranul on this perfect little beauty!
