Month #10

This month its all about personality and will! Genevieve has spent a lot of time this month using her voice, dancing (aka. baby head banging), and climbing on EVERYTHING. She has become very effective in letting you know exactly what she wants and when she wants it and, of course, letting you know when you're wrong. She has two teeth now and is working on a few more. She's still a friendly little thing (smiling and flirting with everyone), but due to some stranger anxiety, definitely prefers to be with mommy. Until next time...

Month #6

This month has been a whirlwind of activity and development for Genevieve and our whole family. Of course, the holiday season is always busy and, for us, it has been compounded with the fact that all of our children are seeking more independence.

The boys want to do everything by themselves ("no need help Mommy" is a frequent phrase around here these days...) and Genevieve is extremely mobile. She is sitting unassisted and has been crawling for nearly a month and a half. She is pulling herself up on EVERYTHING and is even moving along furniture. She obviously has somewhere important to be and is determined to get there as soon as possible. ;)

She eats solid foods (pureed deliciousness as well as finger foods), sleeps for longer periods at night (yay for Mom!), and wants so badly to play "rough" with Daddy and the boys. She loves crawling, jumping, and playing in the bath. She has also developed a love for our cats, who only come out after the boys have gone to bed for the night. Genevieve usually stays up to giggle at them, chase them, and try to pull their hair, ears, or whiskers off before nodding off for the night.

I wonder what another month will bring... walking? talking? driving the car?
Nothing would surprise me at the rate.

Matlock Family

As always, we had a fun, relaxed session with the Matlock family. Both their boys have grown so much since last time we saw them. We were lucky to have a beautiful sunny day to walk around outside, swing, climb trees, play by the creek, and throw around the football. I am so honored to document the interaction, playfulness, and down-to-earth bond of this family.

Month #4

How did I get here? I have somehow become the mother of 2.5 year old twin boys and a 4 month old girl. It doesn't seem like that long ago that I was too young to get married and WAY too young to even THINK about having kids. Makes me think of that saying "Who are these kids and why are they calling me Mom?" I totally feel like that some days.

That being said, I take great joy (and frustration) in my role as "Mom". I am endlessly awed at how these little people grow and change on a daily basis. The boys are amazing me everyday with their language skills and their newly discovered world of imaginative play. Genevieve continues to be an easy-going baby. As my mom says, she "eats, sleeps, and smiles." She is incredibly strong for her age. She rolls both ways with ease, loves anything that she can stand or jump in, and can get up on all fours with her belly off the ground. I seriously wouldn't be surprised if she started crawling tomorrow.

I may not know exactly how I ended up here, but I'm glad that I did (most of the time anyway. ;)

The Millers

Kim is one of my very best friends from college. We sailed around the world together on Semester at Sea and are now charting the new waters of parenthood together. She is an amazing mother to her two boys, Gino and Novak, both who steal my heart with their big blue eyes. Thanks Kim and Mike for letting me photograph your handsome little guys and for your friendship over the years.

The Meyers

It was a chilly September morning when we went to the Meyers home.  We hadn't seen Olivia since we photographed her over the holidays last year.  We were delighted to see how much she had grown!  We also had the pleasure of meeting her big brother, Isaac.  What a bunch of cuties!

We braced against the cool temperatures and the brisk breeze to capture a few precious moments of the Meyer family playing in their backyard.  Luckily, Mom had found some really cute, warm hats for the kids!
